It's right before July 4th, most of you have been checked out this entire week. My European homies have been PTO OOO for like 2 months already. My ED docs are taking bets on how many fingers are getting reattached this weekend.
But we have some fun stuff for you! Quick things
Ship It applications close today!
It's my birthday this weekend. You know what the best birthday gift ever would be?
Telling your favorite engineer about Ship It, our healthcare software engineering conference. It's going to be in New York, 9/17 - 9/18.
But you have to apply to get in and applications are due today!!!! There are only 80 spots, so if you want to come you should apply today. I even made a little video before discovering I am a bad actor! And a bad editor that doesn't understand contrast/lighting!

You can also apply to be a speaker. One thing we do very differently is we have attendees pitch ideas they'd want to teach themselves, which IMO yields much more tactical talks that people actually want to hear about.
Tell your smartest engineer friend in healthcare, we will run out of space for this one. We've got engineers from Anthropic, Databricks, Tempus, Bayesian and more who've applied.
Officially announcing…KNOWLEDGEFEST IS BACK!!
Knowledgefest is actually the conference that started it all for us. Back in 2022 it was put together with blood, sweat, tears, slightly herniated discs, fold out chairs, and a disco ball. We wanted to create a place for ops people in healthcare to come together and learn/cry.

Today we're announcing Knowledgefest is BACK FOR YEAR 5! It will be in SF on 10/17. If you work in ops, and want to come to a conference focused on learning from other ops people, this conference is for you.
While a lot has changed, the main things have not.
- Focused on the attendee experience above all else.
- Pick workshop topics and work really closely with speakers to make it valuable
- Curate the group of people attending
- Have a ton of fun and memes and activities because we actually think that's how bonds become real.
You should apply today, we'd love to see you there. It sells out every year so I would suggest getting your applications in soon :). And if your tool needs to get in front of healthcare ops people, let's talk sponsorship.
Healthcare 101 closes next week
Does this sound familiar:
1 - New employees are onboarded to your company
2 - They need to learn how healthcare works
3 - It's someone's job to teach them, but
- It's someone who has their own work to do and can dedicate 2 hours to it.
- It's someone who's sorta retired/does it internally and it's totally out of date.
- They don't really get an explainer on how healthcare works, just how your company works. And it uses the word “democratize” a lot.
What happens is that employees don't get time and space to ask the dumb questions and then get increasingly more lost as the acronyms start stacking on each other.
I will teach them everything they need to know in our upcoming healthcare 101 course (starts 7/13). How the money moves, how reimbursement works, big laws they need to know, and concepts they can come back to later when they encounter it again. Sign up closes 7/10, ask your boss before they go on vacay.
Plus, I'm fun! I actually make learning it entertaining! So let me teach you or your people. Sign up + curriculum is here,
That's all everyone! Hope you enjoy the long weekend, don't read anything about healthcare.
Thinkboi out,
